GuitarPlaza Teachers

Hi, I’m Jeff. I’ve been playing since 1962, teaching since 1964. I have played in many bands - currently a duo called One Plus One with my wife Dottie, who has a degree in voice from the New England Conservatory in Boston. I have studied with Dr. Prince in jazz classes at FAU and also with several teachers from Berkley in Boston. I like sharing music with students because it’s something of value they can take into the future. I'm also proficient at bass, piano, classical, and various other styles. I can read sheet music and tab, but prefer tab because it’s the easiest way to teach.

My name is Dave Perdue I've been playing guitar for 34 years. I started playing guitar when I was 8 years old, spent many hours practicing guitar. Went to Miami Dade Community College where I studied with Vincent Bredice. Took lessons from Mike Corbin for 10 years. I teach all styles of music, Love to teach Rock lead guitar. Ive been a live performer for 27 years and know hundreds of songs. My bands name is Vendetta and was also in Mastermind just to name a few. Teaching at Guitar Plaza has also gave me great musical experience.

My name is Duke and I've been playing guitar and bass guitar for about 14 years now. Experimenting in many different bands, including my current band Theory of Disorder, I've learned to play many different instruments including guitar, bass guitar, drums, piano and I've even learned to sing. I started learning these instruments by ear and taking in whatever I could from other musicians, including my father! At Florida Atlantic University, I was given my first official guitar, music theory and piano lessons. Using my natural ear for music and my professional training from school, I've learned the theory behind what I had always been playing. If I had to offer any advice to my students it would be: "There is always more to learn and different ways to learn it." Here at Guitar Plaza I use mainly Guitar Pro, an instrument, tablature, and sheet music program to visualize the lessons. Using this program and other resources I'm able to teach my students how to read sheet music and tablature, but I leave it up to the student to choose which method they mainly want to focus on. More importantly, I urge the students to focus on what they really want to learn. I find that students progress much quicker when they play things that they enjoy and appreciate.

Hey, my name is Pedro and I have been playing guitar for six years and teaching for about one year. I have been in a number of different bands and plan on forming a new one soon. I am proficient in bass and guitar, though my instrument of choice is the electric guitar. The experience I have gained from playing with other musicians is unmatchable and I hope to pass this on to my students. I play all kinds of rock and blues, though I know other styles as well. I enjoy sharing my musical knowledge and watching my students progress and have fun with music as much as I do. To me, music is not only a hobby and/or something to do on my spare time, it is something that I put numerous amounts of effort and dedication towards, and it is constantly around me. One guiding word to all guitar players, "PRACTICE!"

My Name is Bryan. I've been playing guitar for about thirteen years and have been basic on other instruments such as the piano, drums and bass. I like to spread out the genres of music I play. I've played with two bands that did some shows around South Florida: 'Cure For Cancer' and 'A New Hiatus'. Both have been disbanded for a few years now. I enjoy sticking to a lot of folk/rock on the acoustic and with the electric will go into some metal -pretty big leap I know. I love jazz and experimental progressive rock. I teach beginner to intermediate music theory, including musical notation and how to read it, tablature, chords, strumming and hand exercises, rhythm and technique. One thing I'll tell every student I have is "There's no shame in being a beginner, if you don't accept it you'll be one for the rest of your life." I work to pace the lessons according to the student and encourage all of my students to learn what they love because as long as you stick to that and work hard you'll enjoy the results of what you put your time into.

Hi! My name is Nick and I have been playing guitar for 15 years. I have played countless venues throughout Connecticut such as, “Toads Place” and town festivals. To further my education in my instrument I have been to numerous workshops and GIT. Teaching runs in my blood and is one of my favorite things to do! The guitar you see me with in this picture is my baby. I spent three long months building and constructing her, and her name is, “Xenia.” My hero’s include Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhodes, Joe Satriani and Eric Johnson. I also teach introductory to intermediate bass as well. So that being said…Rock on and remember what the great Ted Nugent said, “If a little is good…more is better! Crank it baby!!!!

I have over twenty years experience performing guitar and bass guitar in churches, retreats, cafes, nightclubs, concerts, graduation ceremonies, weddings, funerals, and festivals. I am the sonic architect of the LIFE TEEN band at St. Gregory Catholic Church, sometimes laying the foundation, and often adding the textures that have come to define the LIFE TEEN band sound since I joined the group. I am a natural at captivating audiences with my acoustic finger-picking style as well as my aggressive, frenetic, and always fun electric playing. You can hear me playing guitar every Sunday night at 6pm at St. Gregory Catholic Church in Plantation. I like to play acoustic rock like Dashboard Confessional, electric rock guitar like Metallica, and bass guitar like Red Hot Chili Peppers. Let me teach you how you too can be a rock star tonight!

Hey there, my name is Jon. I've been playing music now for over 15 years. I started at the age of 6 with classical piano and eventually grew into playing guitar due to it's physical expression. I've played many different live events with my former band MuckRaker and had the opportunity to share the stage with bands like Seether, Poison The Well, Nonpoint, Darwin's Waiting Room, as well as Unsung Zero's. I'm trained in both tab and sheet music and I prefer sheet music due to it's attention to detail. I went to Dillard High School for jazz guitar, sound and audio engineering, rock guitar and broad way productions. I'm currently with the band 'Witness to the Fallen' which is a post hardcore group created by me and my singer. I love having the opportunity to teach people what I've fallen so in love with in hopes that it can bring them the joy it's brought me.

Hello ! My name is Nick. I started playing guitar when I was fifteen years old. I am experienced in styles such as blues, hard rock, classic rock, heavy metal, classical, jazz, flamenco, and pop.
